Set in the countryside of Islandmagee Foxtrot 58 Boasts being the only fully urban site in Northern Ireland.  Set on old farmland it allows an endless amount of scenarios to be played out.

On the 8th November a group of around 11 players gathered to have a good day of fun.  The day began with a game where four players were role-playing as enemy bombers and had to set two charges around the site and lead the Special Forces team into the area around them.  The charges were well planted, so much so that one charge’s position was only revealed 3 hours after it was meant to have gone off.  The Special Forces team did anything they could to try to discover the position of the bombs including interrogating the entire enemy.

Lunch was then called and we watched a good dramatisation on the Paras in Armagh called Contact by AFN Clarke and games began at 3pm again.

This game involved one team working their way to certain places around the site and collecting armbands from each of these positions and then fighting their way to the next objective.  Despite being pinned down from the outset the attacking team managed to fight their way around the defenders and make their way to the first objective.  They then fought their way across a large open area to this objective where they received their first armband out the window of a house.  While at this point two managed to lose their footing and made ice-skating look easy.  10 Points for effort guys.  The attacking team then attempted to fight their way to the second objective in a cottage.  During this part the team got split up and despite repeated efforts by those in the cottage, the other players could not get through to the position.  Shortly after this the end of the game was called.

Overall everyone had an enjoyable day and look forward to the next shoot.

As Foxtrot 58 Motto says “Play to Win or Die Trying”.  The attackers definitely lived up to that motto.
